LADIES CRICKET AT GREAT HORWOOD

Great Horwood CC Ladies team has been playing cricket from the 1970’s
when they first played for the Michalski Cup against neighbouring village,
Nash. In the late 1980’s the Ladies team became a founder member of the
Milton Keynes & District Ladies Cricket League, finishing runners-up in both
the league and cup on several occasions.
The Club has been hosting a Ladies invitation Six-a-Side competition
since the mid – 1980’s through to the present time. This is an important
event in the calendar for ladies’ cricket in the area with teams from 30 to
40 miles away competing. Touring teams from Yorkshire have, in the past,
taken part. Great Horwood Ladies have won the trophy on more than one
occasion most recently in 2002.
Today the Club’s Ladies’ team play friendly games but look forward in the
future to recruit more players to enable them to play league cricket again.
If you feel you would like to have a go at playing cricket and live close
enough to do so, why not get in touch with our Lady Captain, Stacey Ridgway
(who can be contacted by email via the “Contact Us” page) or just turn up to
a training session on a Thursday evening at the Club.
