Great Horwood CC Ladies team commenced playing cricket from the 1970’s when they first played for the Michalski Cup against neighbouring village, Nash. In the late 1980’s the Ladies team became a founder member of the Milton Keynes & District Ladies Cricket League, finishing runners-up in both the league and cup on several occasions.
The Club also hosted a Ladies Invitation Six-a-Side competition from the mid – 1980’s. This was an important event in the calendar for ladies’ cricket in the area with teams from 30 to 40 miles away competing. Touring teams from Yorkshire have, in the past, taken part. Great Horwood Ladies have won the trophy on more than one occasion most recently in 2002.
Today the Club’s Ladies’ team is in temporary abeyance, due to a shortfall of members, however, the club is keen to revive this very important element of the club by recruiting more players to enable them to play league cricket again.
